Siemens Process Preparation Test Engineering

Siemens Process Preparation Test Engineering

Test probe placement is time consuming process for Test System Engineers to derive access to a given PCBA design. For FPT Systems, often this results in manual process to evaluate probe positions manually via using machines cameras in case of FPT and pick and place data, while refering to PCBA schematic to run around a PCBA UUT and build up a first round program. For ICT this is the same in respect if the PCBA UUT has not been designed for ICT testing in the first place - ie no test points covering all net access nodes in a design. If need to access non-test pads for reasons of required access for better test coverage seting up positions just using gerber data in a all purpose cam tool is time consuming and can be prone to error. ICT fixturing is expensive and avoiding rework of a tooling is paramount. Test system vendors do offer digital tools to help with above but are generaly locked to their equipment and do not have access to spacial granularity of generating probe access options as lack manufacturing geometry models for the acutal MPNs used in a particular PCBA UUT. Siemens Process Preparation FPT/ICT Probe Engineering offers a agnostic probe placement analsysis and test coverage tooling that can create accurate probe access on a design by utilising 'Valor Parts Library' pin to pad and body envolope models. Adding to this solution offers agnostic FPT/ICT exporters with from low level support to high level support pending vendor in question. Solution is for EMS and OEM alike that want to reduce labor costs, increase capex usage fgor production than process development. EMS service providers of course can gain more as variation of designs, time to get a first round working test program-solution setup is expensive and eats into margin opportunity for them supporting their clients. With ability to virtualise the probe engineering , testability coverage early enables changes earlier in the process, best to undertake before PCBAs are ordered and design locked down. PCBA EDA tools while can deliver test points for example across a design as a functional deliverable, they can miss nets and aspects related to the more physical aspects of testing.

Valor Parts Library ...

Optional Valor parts Library contains 35Million 2.5D part geomtries for verification of your MPN Packages are correct fit for the pad stack in the design at hand. Uses are for Assembly RIsk Assessment , Automatic SMT Parts Creation and Test Probe Placement constaints. Very common issues of incorrect MPN called up in BOM can be verified as incorrect visually adding more immediate validation of design quality and BOM part selection.
